Again, by default Photoshop will resize your image based on its current dimensions and resolution, but if you uncheck Resample Image first, then you can enter in whatever new dimensions or resolution you want without affecting the quality of your image. With Image Size you can also change the resolution of your image, which is something you can’t do with Canvas Size. If you need to increase or decrease the actual size of your image as well as adding extra space around it, then using Image Size is probably a better option. By default, Photoshop will add the new space evenly around your image, but you can choose to have it added only to one side by selecting the Relative option.
